2010 Spring Spectacular Winner Kenny "River" Reid

Kenny "River" Reid Wins the 2010 Spring Spectacular

Long time Queen City Poker Tour member Kenny "River" Reid won the 2010 Spring Spectacular.  It only took one hand heads up to take the title when he was dealt pocket aces.  Brad Beatty's 6 3 did not hold up despite flopping a six.  Kenny won $275, a QCPT winner's shirt, and a spot in the 2011 Tournament of Champions.  Kenny bested a field of 20 players, the smallest QCPT event field in over 5 years.  Kenny obviously liked the new casino on the circuit, Barry's Steeler Card Room.  Barry, I'm sorry to see that someone defaced the Steeler's helmet in your new poker room.  If I find out who did it, I will be sure to thank him.  There was much talk of the now infamous "Pink Poney" that is the Steeler Card Room.  "First one to bust out, must take a ride on the Pink Poney."

It was a fast bust out night, we had 7 players bust out before the first break.  We'll save them the embarrassment by listing their names.  Instead, here is the final table rankings and what they won:

1. Kenny "River" Reid - $275, TOC Seat, QCPT Shirt, & 100 points
2. Brad Beatty - $185 & 78 points
3. George Mandos - $140 & 58 points
4. Ben Lampe - $100 & 44 points
5. Jonathan Mauer - 34 points
6. Joe Butkovich - 27 points
7. Barry Wasmund - 21 points
8. Dave Dragon - 16 points
9. John Gray - 12 points

With the win by Kenny Reid, he joins the field of Chuck Ware, Tony Hayes, Erik Woodson, Tom Dean, Ralph Ostendorf, Tony Jones and Kevin Martin for the Tournament of Champions.  There are only 4 remaining spots left for the TOC, the three remaining tournament winners, and the one wild card spot.  Here are the current standings for the Wild Card Spot:

1. George Mandos - 229 points
2. Barry Wasmund - 208 points
3. Joe Butkovich - 195 points
4. Rodney Varner - 184 points
5. Steve Ampfer - 168 points
6. Dave Fugate - 147 points
7. Johnnie Carroll - 117 points
8. Peter Landesman - 116 points
9. Bob Bartlett - 87 points
10.  Jonathan Mauer - 80 points
11. Ben Lampe - 59 points

The next Queen City Poker Tour event will be held on Saturday, June 12.  It will be our annual deviation from our standard No Limit Hold'em tournament.  In the past we haven't deviated to far by playing a Rebuy No Limit Hold'em tournament.  This time we will play a mixed game format, No Limit Hold'em being one of the games.  I'm thinking a 3 game rotation of Pot Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, and No Limit Hold'em.  This tournament will also have rebuys.  The levels will be 20 minutes, with the rotation of the game changing every new level.  Rebuys will be allowed through level 6.  Each rebuy will be $20 for 2000 more in chips.  You can rebuy at any time once you are below 2000 in chips.

A big THANK YOU goes out to Barry Wasmund for hosting this past event.  I will be hosting the next event, but if you would like to host the September 25 event, please let me know.  Thank you all who participated in this last event.  Let's try to get the attendance up for our next event.

Shuffle Up & Deal,

George
